Sessions

Please note that I am now accepting NEW clients for individual and group therapy.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY:

Current clients are welcome to schedule in through the online calendar system for their sessions. If you are a NEW client and feel that my approach would benefit you, please email contact@mind-bodyhealth.ca and ask for the “questionnaire” to complete. I will review this to determine if my approach will be of benefit to you. Individual therapy sessions are 60 minutes, either face-to-face and/or telephone/video consultation.

GROUP THERAPY:

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) classes (utilizing Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) protocols and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) are being offered intermittently depending on the waitlist. This 8-week program (2.5 hrs per week) are group classes that teach mindfulness meditation and stress reduction techniques. This trains the conscious Mind, the brain, and the body/nervous-system to work as a team in your daily life with more awareness and conscious control. See the “Counselling & Psychotherapy Approaches” page to learn more about MBCT and if it may benefit your stress, depression, anxiety, or even PTSD. Fees and Payments

A brief phone consultation is available if you would like to ask a few questions before booking in for the first session. This extra time is available upon email request and not during your first session.
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your initial appointment if you would like to complete the intake form in the waiting area.

Cost per Session: $190
Pay By: Cash, e-Transfer, Check, Mastercard, Visa

Each session is billed at $190/hr for a 60 minute face-to-face and/or telephone/video consultation. A sliding scale may be available for some clients with financial difficulties and students, but this will need to be discussed with Kyle ahead of the first session. The suggested rate for Psychological services by the BC Psychological Association is $200/hr.

Direct Billing (may be available for the following groups of people):

Approved by Medavie Blue Cross to provide psychological services for Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and possibly for immediate family members of these groups. To see if you qualify please visit Medavie Blue Cross – Government Providers to find the appropriate contact.
Approved by the BC government to provide counselling services to those people, and possibly their families, to receive partial funding. Please email Kyle to inquire into this after visiting this link (Crime Victim Assist Program) to see if you would qualify. Please be aware that Kyle can not approve such funding and the links on the above BC government website will provide you with the resources to determine if you qualify.
Approved by the First Nations Health Authority in British Columbia. To see if you qualify please visit the Government page (click here).
Please contact your extended health care plan and ask how your coverage plan reimburses you for individual, family, or group therapy by a “registered psychologist.” Also ask what your daily, monthly, and yearly limits are.

Please verify your health insurance coverage when you arrange your first visit.

A few words from Kyle about the sessions and confidentiality.

Finding a therapist that is a ‘good fit’ for you and making the decision to reach out for that first consultation can be difficult and even overwhelming for many people. My initial goal for therapy is to create an environment that allows you to comfortably explain your situation while also making efficient use of our time together, so that you feel it is quickly making a positive impact on your life. To assist with this I can email (if you request) a questionnaire to complete before arriving. You can complete as much or little of the form as you like and bring it to your first session. This will provide me with insight into how your specific situation is impacting your life. Please let me know if you would like this questionnaire.

Our first consultation will be 60 minutes and we will first cover some brief formalities, determine some of your goals, discuss events that you consider relevant and formulate a plan of action. Your sessions are confidential, your file is confidential, and all aspects of your identity will be kept confidential from any co-workers that may also be visiting my office. All aspects of confidentiality will be discussed at the beginning of your first session to ensure your comfort with the process.
